SELLING OUT
For those in the dark we are having a YARD SALE tomorrow, March 2nd!
No, we're not going of of business just selling inventory that is ready to move onto bigger and better places. Doesn't mean it's not great stuff it just can't stay here any longer because we are moving on. Our little 700 SF shop gets cramped fast!
Once all the goodies are gone we will be working on giving the interior and exterior image of the shop a little spit shine. Although, we would love more room we're working with what we got til the perfect spot becomes available and we can really show off our talents for pickin' and designin'.
In the meantime I'll leave you with the pic of "Woodstock for Tableware". All I can say is WOWZERS, look at that line!!! This was an event in Greensboro, NC at Replacements, Ltd a one stop shop for hard to find china. If you don't know about the store you should! We hope we'll have this many people tomorrow to help us clear out!
Hope to see all your shining faces tomorrow!!
XOXO,
Rebekah

In the thick of it...
Ok, I have an admission...I'm in the middle of a furniture project that I am so OVER.
I've gotten in too deep to give and up and I would cry if I had to throw in the towel hand and hand this bad boy over to someone else.
I've been searching for just the right size piece to use in our master bath and this sexy beast fits the mold perfectly. Not to mention I got it for a song! Ever the perfectionist I thought it needed a little customization before it took its rightful place in the throne room.
Here it is in all it's glory before I took to it with the stripper.

So pretty! I wish I could rewind time and just stick this thing in the bathroom. But we all know that's not happening!
I'm not sure why I decided this piece need to be stripped before I started using it. Sometimes I try to do things the "right" way and end up giving myself way more work than I have time for!
Sorry for the dark picture. Not sure the furntiure maker but this is not the original paint. It was painted pink then the creamy white you see here. The hardware is not original but that is one of the reasons I LOVE this piece.
Greek key hardware close-up!
OK...shield your eyes. This is where things go wrong.
Try
not
to
scream
when
you
see
the
horror.
My poor sexy piece now looks like it has Leprosy! I used Citristrip and I have nothing bad to say about it. The fumes are tolerable and it is very easy to work with. The problem lies in the faux bamboo details.
I mean come on! How to do you get two layers of paint outta those crevaces?!?! Ahhh!
And the fact that the pink paint does NOT want to remove itself from this piece is making for very slow going. Now the hubby has given me a time limit on getting this piece into the house. Nothing like the threat of a beloved vintage piece of furniture being pried from my hands to be taken to the dump or goodwill!
I'm hoping for an end goal of something like this:
With a little detailing like this:
Paint has been purchased and once the prep work is done it should be smooth sailing.
Wish me luck!
XOXO,
Rebekah

Here's what's on my list today:
Vintage Mint Green SMEG fridgerator.

What's on your list?

Around Town
Just thought I'd share what I've seen around town lately. Most items I've passed on but I love showing you all the potential that vintage items hold. Running short on time so I'll post tomorrow on how these are used.
HUGE faux bamboo mirror! To die for price!......I passed :(
I'm not sure your thoughts but this was molded plastic and I just don't think it seems that substantial. Painted this guy could be a beaut. I really need to have measurements handy. I've been searching for a non-typical mirror for our bathrooms and this would've been great. Only problem is without dimensions I figured it was too tall to fit under our wall mounted light fixture. Oh, well.
If you have hear or SEEN brass is coming back in a big way. I thought these bow and tassel brass sconces would look great in our master bath on either side of the oval mirror we have. At $3.93 for the pair I'm thinking I should have swung for these.
I passed. I know I know...they were more worn in person and the bottom was black foam. Pretty none the less.
LOVE LOVE LOVED this long sofa. It had a slight curve and the tufting was gorgeous. Fabric was in ok condition but looked a little dirty and maybe for some reason I have a recollection that it had a smell. Anywho, it would be fab recovered.
I'm just now decorating our house for fall. Nothing like a looming Halloween party to get you rear in gear. So needless to say I was stoked when I spotted these heirloom pumpkins last night at WALMART. I was floored! And the price...ahhhh Wally-world can't be beat. I did my own little take on this month's Southern Living Spread. If only I had a entry like this to work with!
Anyone else find any fun treasures lately?? I'd love to hear/see!
XOXO,
Rebekah

Fall...back on the wagon
Hello?? Anyone still here?.....
Yeah didn't think so ;)
Can't believe my last post was in May! I've told several folks in the shop that I tend to do really well at one thing (aka Facebook...much better updating this lately) and neglect the other (ummm the blog, duh!). We'll I'm BACK! Instead of the loading the FB page down with images and thoughts I'll try to do a better job of making additional information available on what's happening around the shop and other personal updates here on the blog. Here's a photo log of what I've been up to.
Black and white transfer ware! Ahhh it was love at first sight. I have this thing for toile, palm trees, chinoiserie. I really needed these.Once again need to research these. Price was around $15 to $20 a plate (I think, maybe more) and I know a lot of the more popular antique dishes are knocked off. Don't mind knock-off sometimes but I don't want to pay the REAL deal price and get the imitation.
This moose rack was HUGE! I only wish I had gotten a shot of the rest of the booth. So many neat things and the guy running it was awesome himself.
Thought this zebra lamp was mighty fun, However, it was $60 and it had to be rewired. I passed.
There as been and lot of buying, selling and passing here and I promise to do a better job of showing you what we've be up to.
Anyone else been antiquing or treasure hunting lately?
Love,
Rebekah
P.S. Don't tell my husband but the hunt (aka the shopping part) is my favorite!

Liberty Antique Festival
Twice annual antique fest on a gorgeous 100 acre farm.
Twice annual antique fest on a gorgeous 100 acre farm.
Hour early and there was already a line.
Thoughts for next year...get there a few minutes after it starts. It wasn't a running free-for-all like a thought it was going to be. Don't get me wrong early bird gets the worm but, it wasn't like the crazies on Black Friday.
It was a beautiful morning!
Couple of shots of items I LOVED but didn't get.
Purple bottles! So pretty in person. The price however...NOT cheap. I'll have to do my research on these since it was my first time eyeing them.
Sweet little chandelier. Should have gotten the oars for the shop but I was on overload and forgot to go back. Another note to shelf. If you see something you like photograph and write down the booth location! One can get mighty turned around with all the stuff to be seen.
Really really wanted this industrial ladder to go with my awesome industrial warehouse shop with exposed brick, high ceilings with the original tin tiles (ok this is only in my dreams...Calabash doesn't quite have anything like that). We passed because we didn't want to store in the mean time, waiting and hoping for said warehouse to magically appear. Also, not sure it would have fit in the minivan.

All in all Liberty was a blast. It was great to have a change of scenery from the beach. The weather was great a little warm but I'm not complaining. I almost fainted though when my husband actually said he was enjoying himself! HA! Slowly but surely he is coming around to the dark side :)
In other musings, I spotted this faux bamboo dresser, mirror and full/queen headboard around town.
Great price but the drawer faces were plastic and in my opinion needed to be repainted. Great deal for someone to fix up but I decided to pass.

Going BANANAS!
I don't know what is it but I'm bananas for banana leaf prints lately!
From my light research it appears it all started HERE.
The Beverly Hills Hotel

It also seems that I'm not the first (and surely not the last) to be obsessed with this iconic print.
Check out these other posts about the leafy print!

Ohhhh wee I need these! Atleast two maybe three...aww shucks, what about four!
(told you I was banana leaf crazy)
One - great for an accent chair.
Two - Awesome for the bed.
Three or Four - Fab on a neutral sofa to totally change the look.
